An ANAKŌSA Alas houseIn the green hush of Ubud
Angkasa is a house of five pavilions gathered around water. The pool wraps a sunken lounge at its centre, so some can swim while others sit at the level of the water, and glass walls in every suite open onto the garden and the trees beyond.
Guests speak of the architecture first: dark stone, warm timber and dramatic light after dark. Then the calm of the place, the forest close by, the excellent bedding, and a team who are kind and attentive, preparing breakfast, arranging massages at the house and, for one guest, a birthday surprise.
Five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and the centre of Ubud a short drive away.

The house

Angkasa is a contemporary house of stone, timber and glass, set in a lush garden in Ubud. Its pool runs around a sunken lounge in the central courtyard, with daybeds beneath a timber pergola and umbrellas in the garden. Inside, an open-plan living room with sculptural furniture flows into a modern kitchen and a long dining table. Five en-suite bedrooms, each with a king bed and glass from floor to ceiling; the main bedroom has a bathtub.
